Classification

  • Lymphoma/lymphosarcoma is a neoplastic process defined by an atypical proliferation of malignant lymphocytes in solid organs for example the lymph nodes, spleen, liver and bone marrow. 
  • Abnormal lymphocytes may also invade the gastrointestinal tract, the eye and the skin, causing disease in these areas. 
  • Lymphosarcoma is the most common neoplasia seen in young rabbits and the second most common neoplasia overall. 
  • Lymphosarcomas may be either B-lymphocyte or T-lymphocyte in origin. It may be classified as either low or high grade depending on the degree of signs of malignancy and spread.
