  • Jugular vein preferable  Jugular venipuncture  rapid, unobstructed flow of blood.
  • Peripheral veins, eg cephalic and saphenous, often detrimental   →   slow blood flow   →   sample artifacts (hemolysis and microclots).

  • Simple technique (unless difficult animal).
