Introduction

  • Rare, usually benign proliferations of sebaceous glands.
  • Raised, pedunculated or warty proliferations 2-5 mm diameter; middle-aged to older cats; frequently on head, neck and trunk.
  • Sebaceous hyperplasia.

Pathogenesis

Etiology

  • Unknown.

Pathophysiology

  • Sebaceous gland hyperplasia may lead to the development of sebaceous gland tumors.
  • Epithelial growths arising from sebocytes.

Timecourse

  • Weeks to months.
