Introduction

  • Seen in young animals with or without separation of proximal physis or coxofemoral luxation.
  • Signs: acute onset hindlimb lameness.
  • Treatment: surgical repair.
  • Prognosis: good following prompt surgical repair.

  • Trauma.

  • Open growth plate.

Pathophysiology

  • Traumatic fracture of greater trochanter.
