Overview

  • Immature red blood cells containing a fine reticulum of nucleotide material which stains with methylene blue.
  • In other species used as an indicator of red blood cell regeneration.
  • In the horse red blood cells not released from the bone marrow until mature.
  • Very rarely found in the peripheral circulation.
