  • Median approach to the thorax.

Uses

Combined with cranial laparotomy

Advantages

  • Good bilateral exposure of thorax (except dorsally).
  • Good access to cranial hemithorax:
    • Trachea.
    • Cranial 2/3 esophagus.
    • Mediastinum.
    • Vessel arising from aorta.
