Indications

  • Indicated to promote diuresis in the early stages of oliguric renal failure Kidney: acute kidney injury (AKI) Kidney: chronic kidney disease (CKD).
  • Promote excretion of toxic substances.
  • Decrease intra-ocular pressure in glaucoma Glaucoma.
  • Improves cerebral blood flow and reduces raised intra-cranial pressure by decreasing cerebral edema.
  • Not suitable for the mobilization of local or general edema as it may cause cardiac overload.
  • May act as a free radical scavenger and may thus be useful in managing reperfusion injury.
