  • Treatment of diabetes mellitus Diabetes mellitus where some residual pancreatic beta-cell activity is present.

    However, other sulphonylureas (glipizide) may have a greater effect.

  • May be of use in the management of diabetes insipidus Diabetes insipidus.

Chloramphenicol, phenylbutazone and potentiated sulfonamides
Loop and thiazide diuretics; corticosteroids
  • May have antagonistic effect.
Potassium-sparing diuretics
  • Risk of hyponatremia if used concurrently.
