Indications

  • Where a prolonged action is required, eg extradural analgesia or intercostal nerve blocks following thoracic surgery.
  • Onset of action slower than lignocaine (lidocaine) Lidocaine.
  • Low concentrations <0.25% produce analgesia without muscle relaxation.
  • High concentrations >0.75% produce analgesia and muscle relaxation.
