Introduction
- Cause: variation of imperforate punctum - congenital abnormality of lacrimal system more common in the lower punctum.
- Signs: epiphora common - may have rust-coloured staining of hair at medial canthus.
- Diagnosis: delayed fluorescein drainage.
- Treatment: surgery if required.
- Prognosis: good.

- Congenital narrowing of lacrimal punctum → epiphora (tear overflow).
Timecourse
- Usually not seen >8 weeks old.
