Introduction

General information

  • Herding dog developed in Switzerland in the 20th century.
  • FCI breed standard from 2011.
  • Emerged from white lines of the German Shepherd Dog German Shepherd Dog, meaning most aspects of this breed are very similar in type to the German Shepherd Dog.
  • A powerful, well-muscled, medium-sized, white shepherd dog with erect ears. Should have a strong and muscular back.
  • Two coat lengths: medium and long-haired. Coat is normally a “double” coat.
  • Regular grooming is required.
  • Lively, loyal and intelligent, generally balanced and attentive. Friendly, with devotion to owner, with a few dogs aloof towards strangers. Considered fairly adaptable to different social settings, and not particularly aggressive without provocation.
  • Considered an ideal family dog for active families.
  • Requires very regular exercise and mental engagement.
