  • Streptomycin sulphate: D-Streptamine, O-2-deoxy-2-(methylamino)-α-L-glucopyranosyl-(1→2)-O-5-deoxy-3-C-formyl-α-L-lyxofuranosyl-(1→4)-N,N1-bis(aminoiminomethyl)-,sulfate (2:3) (salt).

Indications

  • Streptomycin-sensitive infections.
  • This would mainly comprise Gram-negative organisms and some Gram-positive organisms, eg Staphylococci Staphylococci.
  • Indicated in the treatment of infections caused by organisms sensitive to streptomycin, in particular Leptospirosa spp Leptospirosa spp and Mycobacterium tuberculosis Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
All obligate anaerobes are resistant.
