David graduated with a BVetMed from the University of London in 1988. He received a RCVS Certificate of Small Animal Dermatology in 1993 and a RCVS Certificate of Small Animal Medicine in 1995. In 1997 he became a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (Feline Practice). David became a Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgery in 1988 and a Fellow in 2009 after submitting a thesis on feline osteoarthritis.
David was a founding partner of the Nine Lives Veterinary Practice for Cats in 1994 and worked there until 2004. Then he was a clinical pathologist for Axiom Veterinary Laboratory and recently has concentrated on being self-employed as a small animal dermatologist and feline practitioner.
As well as being a North American Specialist in Feline Practice he is a RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Dermatology.
David has had papers published in a number of refereed journals and has also contributed to material on the UFAW website about genetic welfare issues of companion animals. David is also a regular contributor to the Dermatology category of Felis.
