  • Used to control mild to moderate pain and inflammation in osteoarthritic conditions.
  • Used in febrile conditions.
  • Used as an adjunct to antibiotics in the management of upper respiratory tract conditions.
  • Ocular inflammation.

Interactions

with other drugs

Corticosteroids, other NSAIDs, methoxyflurane

  • Do not use with tolfenamic acid.

Anti-hypertensives, eg beta-blockers

  • Tolfenamic acid may antagonize the hypotensive effects.

Diuretics

  • Concominant use may increase the risk of nephrotoxicty.

Protein-bound drugs, eg coumarins, anesthetics

  • Displaced by NSAIDs, thereby potentiating their effects.

Fluoroquinolones

  • In man - increased risk of convulsions if NSAIDs concurrently administered with fluoroquinolones.

T3 and T4

  • May cause false low values.
